My wife had a mammogram last week and hasn't heard any results. They told her it could be 10 days and it's been 9 (counting the weekend). She doesn't have any reason to think that anything is wrong, but worried that it is.
She's also battling anxiety, so the wait doen't help with that. Her GYN apparently is outsourcing the readings to another town (3-hours away). Anyone have any thoughts on the timeframe?
I had a mammogram last Friday, and Tuesday the doctor's office had the report and on Wednesday, I was back at the center for another spot check and a breast ultrasound. If I were you, I would call the doctor's office
If you were told 10 days and it's only been nine (counting weekends) I wouldn't be concerned. I've heard of many places that take this long and years ago almost ALL of them took this long.
STILL.............if you haven't heard anything after two weeks, call. I'm sure all is okay.
I always get nervous also, but I get less nervous as the days pass, as I know if something was wrong I would be contacted much sooner than the 2 weeks it takes to send out in the mail that everything was normal.
Other women I know that go to the same place I do, have been called back in before they're allowed to leave, so I usually feel pretty good about getting to leave right away - they always tell us to wait to get dressed, and then the nurse comes in and say's it's OK to leave.
Where I go, it depends on what the Dr. ordered. If they order a screening mammogram, they send a letter in about 2 weeks. If they order a diagnostic, they tell you before you leave the office.
