Don't know what to do... - Cancer: Breast Message Board

Hello, I am not the one with cancer, it is my ex-wife and I am trying to help her out. We have three beautiful little boys so she has three very good reasons to fight this. The problem is that she does not have insurance. Not only do they believe it is breast cancer but she also has other female problems that are just as serious. She is only 28 years old and because she is so young, is having trouble getting any assistance from any groups, ie. the American Cancer Society, places like that. Twice she has been told that she has to be 50 to recieve any help. We live in Florida and for those who live here, you know what it is like to get medicaid, for those who don't, try pulling a alligators tooth. So she is caught in a catch 22, no insurace so know one wants to see her, but if she doesn't get this taken care of immediately, well, we all know the consequences. So please, please, please, please, if anyone has any input, suggestions, if anyone knows of any foundations that can help,even a little, or if you have any suggestions on further steps I can do to help. We may not be married anymore but she is still my boys mother and I will do anything I can to assist her through this. I thank you in advance for any suggetions and input..Thank you!

I live in Florida and I'm a college student with limited income. I applied for county insurance, which goes according to your income. This insurance covers your doctor visits, and you need to see a specialist it covers it as well. It also cover your surgery if needed as well as your mammograms and ultrasound. If you need to have a procedure done concerning your breast it covers that too. Go to your local (county) where they provide assistance to individuals who need aid for rent,utilities,food, and medical. It's a first come first serve basis and they normally take the first 20 people very early in the morning. If you can't get the phone number then, call your local social service agency and they can provide the number for you. If you need help medical that's what it's for, then get the help that you need.
