Looking for information on cancer survivor Christina Middlebrook - Cancer: Breast Message Board

Hello, I'm new to this message board. I read a book called "Seeing the Crab" by Christina Middlebrook that was published in 1996. I'm wondering if anyone knows if she indeed did survive her ordeal. I'm hoping she is still alive. My mother died of breast cancer at the age of 45. I'm always looking for hope.

Hi Jennybug

I recently reads this book - it resonated very much with me. I have been unable to establish whether she survived (the book is now over 10 years old) and one or two of us in the UK, who have read the book, are also keen to know about her. I have googled all kinds of websites but they are seem to refer back to her original book in 1996 or a speaking event in 1997 - that tells us nothing really. My mother died of mestatatic BC at age 42.

I was also curious about how Christina Middlebrook had done after the book. I did some research and found that, as of Sept. 2007, she is listed as a member of the Jung Institute of San Francisco, [url]http://www.sfjung.org/[/url]. It notes that she is retired from practice. I also saw a reference in a local newsletter to her and her husband making a donation to a neighborhood project in 2006. It looks like she was still alive at least a few months ago. I was really happy to see that. My mom died of renal cell cancer only a few months after being diagnosed, but it still makes me feel unreasonably good to read that she is still around--and her kids have had more time to grow into adults with her.
