possibly benign? - Cancer: Breast Message Board

i am kimba and i have had 2 mammograms and an mri showing a lump. i am getting an ultrasound and another ***** on friday also i am seeing a specialist at fox chase cancer center in phila on the 20th. i am scared to death and these reports keep saying the lump is probably benign. what does that mean the only way that can be found out is by doing a biopsy. any one who may offer some help or some support please. thanks

Most breast lumps are not cancer. I have no idea if yours is similar to what I had a couple of years ago, but when I returned for the repeat mammogram and ultrasound they said I needed a biopsy. The radiologist reassured me right then and there that less than 10% of all breast lumps are cancer. I did have the biopsy and indeed it was NOT cancerous. Let us know when you find out what it is.

thanks nancy, i went and had another ***** and ultrasound done yesterday and i am going to see a specialist at fox chase cancer center in philadelphia in 2 weeks. i am praying and hopingn for the best. any support offered would be greatly appreciated, this is a very scary thing for me a lot of cancer runs in my family, my dad died from cancer , my grandmother died from cancer and my aunt had breast cancer. i will let you know more when i find out.

Hi Kimba, I will be saying a prayer for you also, hoping for the best results!
Its good that you are having this checked out..I know how scary this all is, but its good that the lump has been found.

i went for my biopsy last week and all is well. a follow up at fox chase cancer center is requiredmevery 6 months but im okay with that. chin up everyone.
