| Need some answers please....
Last week I saw an oncologist that my new gyn sent me to....the gyn took a sample of the discharge that is coming from my nipple, and the report said that it was benign but atypical...I have had 2 lumps removed...the final analysis was benign hyperplasia with fibrods and cysts. The Dr. then said that the hyperplasia was nothing to worry about if there was no atypia. The oncologist last week said that it was nothing to worry about. When should I worry about atypia and when shouldn't I? I'm supposed to follow up with my surgeon who has done the last 2 lumpectomies, one in each breast, but I feel like I am going to go once again to get the feeling that I'm over reacting and they will then tell me that I should have a mammogram in one year..I'm so frustrated as this has been going on since February of this year..my first lumpectomy was 5 years ago....any help would be GREATLY appreciated...I feel very lucky that everything so far has been benign, but then I find another lump or I get a discharge from my breast for no reason at all and keep wondering when they are going to tell me I was right for worrying, but too late to do anything about it. Thanks, Linda
