I was dxed with early stage br cancer in May 2006 and am doing well. I had some microcalcifications in the other breast the yr, prior, but otherwise had clean mammograms. I was 48 at the time. We have a family hx, so it was always a little in the back of my mind.
Anyway, I did not have any pain. I felt no lump. It was small and was caught early on *****. No node invovement. - If it is cancer, they determine the node status during surgery (usually a sentinal node biopsy these days, which only looks at the 1st 1-2 nodes. - If those are clean, the rest should be clean as well).
It took about a week for me to receive a letter saying I needed more mammos and an ultrasound. then I had a core needle biopsy.
Hope this answers yoru questions. Try not to worry too much. alot of women receive call - back letters, and even go through biopsys, with totally beneign results.
