Hi,
About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with IBS. I usually have a lot of gas, abdominal pain and some constipation. Every once in a while I feel extremely tired and have some back aches. Now I have noticed I can sometimes feel a lump in the lower left side of my abdomen that is sometimes small and sometimes larger, but is always there. I don't know if it has always been there or I have just noticed it. It is not usually painful when I press it. Is this part of my intestine? I have been reading about symptoms of Ovarian Cancer and that these are some of them and I am a nervous wreck. At my last OBGYN exam she felt my ovaries and said they were okay, but can she tell cancer from that? Should I get more tests? Has anyone ever heard of IBS affecting your hormones really bad? So, I was wondering if anyone else with IBS has ever had any symptoms like this. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Please post or e-mail me.
You should ask your doctor to give you an ultra sound anyway both vaginaly and on the stomach. My first doctor felt my ovaries and said there was nothing. I went to a different doctor and with ultrasound a large cyst was found. Fortunately its not cancer. Please ask for an ultrasound. I think that it is irresponsible of doctors when patients are coming in with gas probs and lower back pain not to at least do an ultrasound. especially when the procedure is right there and early detection is so important. It really makes me mad.
Get yourself a different Dr., I cannot understand a Dr. just saying everything is alright without sending you for some tests. This Dr. should have suggested a ultrasound, ca-125 blood test and even a cat scan. Remember ovarian cancer is a silent killer, if you do no demand tests to be done on you then you are doing the biggest disservice to you and your life. Although Dr's have medical knowledge does not mean they know everything, you are the one that has to fight for your life, demand tests and answers and do not be just pushed to the side you are entitled to answers and if your Dr. can't be bothered then they aren't the one you should be going to in the first place. Also you have a computer then research make yourself informed there is so much information out there
