IS A HEAVY DISCHARGE ASSC/ W/ CERVICAL CANCER? - Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Message Board

i HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH W/ MY OB GYN FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW REG A HEAVIER THAN USUAL DISCHARGE i 'VE BEEN HAVING..IT IT LIKE A THICK WHITE TO OPAQUES MUCUS DISCHARGE THAT i HAVE AT OTHER TIMES NOT JUST OVULATION..I HAVE READ A COUPLE OF POST FROM WOMEN THAT HAD CERVICAL CANCER AND THE ONLY SYMPTOM WAS HEAVY DISCHARGE..MY DOC IS NOT CONCERNED AND SAYS IF IT DOESN'T ITCH OR SMELL LEAVE IT ALONE..THEY DID A SWAB AND CULTURE 2 MONTHS AGO BECUASE i DID HAVE AN EPISODE OF BLOOD TINGED MUCUS.THEY GAVE ME CIPRO DUE TO A BACTERIA OVERGROWTH..MY PAP LAST MONTH WAS NORMAL..I NEED TO KNOW IF i SHOULD PURUE THIS

when was your last pap smear test? as long as they come back normal and your discharge are not smelly then there is probably nothing to worry about although i have heard that pap test can sometimes fail to detect any abnormal tissue in the cervix. however if you are worried maybe you can ask your GP for more test. i have read about this new method called ThinPrep pap test which is said to be more effective in detecting abnormal cells in the cervix compared to the conventional pap test.
