My sister was diagnosed as having cervical cancer almost a year ago and has been doing radiation therapy for the past 8 months. She was bleeding on and off for the past 2 weeks and went to the hospital. Turns out she is pregnant. My question is this, what are her chances of carrying this baby to term? She is on this pill she has to take every day for at least another year. The doctors aren't even sure the cancer is still there or not. The bleeding has me concerned she may already be miscarrying but I have never been pregnant so I have no idea if it is normal or not.

I can't offer an opinion as to whether or not she can carry the baby to full term b/c I'm not a doctor, but I might be able to help you by offering a little info. What pill is she taking? Tamoxifen? (To be effective, Tamoxifen must be taken for 5 consecutive years, so maybe she's taking something else.) Was her cancer estrogen and/or progesterone receptor positive? Pregnancy can be dangerous for women who have e/p positive tumors because those hormones cause the tumor to grow faster.

I don't really know what types of medication she is on. I only know that she has to be on it for 2 years and she has about a year left to go on it. Me and her don't have that close of a relationship and don't really talk about her cancer at all so I couldn't be able to tell you what kinds it is. They wanted to give her a hysterectomy ( I don't know if it is spelled right) but she refused in case she wanted to have more children. She already has 2 evil little boys ages 11 and 9. But I love her kids.
