Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer - Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Message Board

Has anyone deal with stage 4 ovarian cancer that had successful treatment? Mother has been fighting 2 years and we received some more bad news yesterday on the spread. Her Drs are sending her to an ovarian specialist most likely at MD Anderson in Houston. If anyone has dealt with MD Anderson or this stage of cancer I would be grateful for an email with you and any info on successful treatmeat at the Houston Clinic. She will be leaving our hospital in a few days and we will be making our decision. The Drs. seems to think we can continue to treat, but I know we are running out of options. Could use some encouragement on something successful.

My mother is in stage 3. She has been fighting for three years. She is currently on Taxol. She has has two re-occurrences.

I know how hard it is, I always keep wondering how much more my mother can handle?

i am scared for my mother who has just had her 2nd operation and has not had any cancer remove "they can't get it ,its to mangled ". she went in for a hysterectomy to "ease her mind " and they told her she had stage 3c ovarain cancer .Now I saw they had her diagnosis as pertional carcinamatois(spelled wrong i fear),she is having her 3rd ct scan and will recieve another chemo in few days then q 21 days for 3 more .......i am so scared for her she is only 56.

Hello everybody,

My mother is a cervical cancer patient so I dont know much about ovarian. However, in my travels across the internet I have read about a drug called Xyotax that seems to work on ovarian cancer patients. It's manufactured by Cell Therapeutics (cticseattle.com), and apparently it may work on ovarian patients who're either not responsive to taxol or have gained resistance to taxol. Also, side effects are less severe- no hair loss, and apparently the administration by IV takes about 15 minutes only. The drug is currently in phase III studies.
