| Re: Cervical Cancer stage 1b
Unfortunately I'm newly diagnosed myself so I don't have anything to share as far as what to expect, but I can let you know that you are not alone (and I'm now glad to see that I'm not alone, either!).
I met with a gyno oncologist last Thursday, he also diagnosed me with cervical cancer, stage IB2. He's scheduling me for a CT scan and further biopsies to get more info (still waiting for them to be scheduled - insurance company red tape is so lovely), said that will determine if our first step will be a radical hysterectomy or radiation (from what I understood this mainly depends on whether or not the lymph nodes have become involved).
I so completely understand everything that's running through your head right now... and waiting for appointments and tests is almost unbearable. Although I've done a lot of research over the past couple of weeks and I know that this stage has a 90% success rate with treatment, it's still quite scary and I keep going from one extreme to the other - from "I'll have a little bit of surgery and enjoy being off of work for a couple of weeks" to "OMG what is going to happen to my 11 yr-old son if I'm not part of that 90%."
When is your appt with the specialist? If you don't mind, I would be very much interested in staying in touch with you through this, we can compare experiences, knowledge from both of our docs, etc...
