Question Ultrasound was 1.5 hours-scared

Hi ladies,
I have a history of polycystic ovaries, and infertility. Am used to ultrasounds pretty routinely over the last twenty years(I'm forty-three). Today though, I was sent for one that was pretty fast- maybe five or ten min for the one with the full bladder (yuk). But then the transvag one was a marathon where she started taking so many pictures or whatever they do with that keyboard and wand- she seemed very experienced tech and nice - but when I asked well, has the cyst on the right reduced like the dr thought? She just firmly said I haven't finished my report- radiologist will send it to your dr. Then she spent literally forty more minutes taking more shots of (I believe) my right ovary. Then she went out of the room and brought in another radiologist and someone else. At that point I said I'm sorry guys, but could I please pee if you need to take any more pics? She said oh i'm sorry I see your bladder is full- go ahead and then come back in so we can take more pics. Well, long story short total time was from 11am to 12:20 . Is this normal? They asked if I had been experiencing any irregularity of periods and I said yes I had but onl inlast few months (they were close together like fourteen days) and I thought maybe it was early menopause or something. They said my dr will have results on mon. Please give me idea if they are thinking big c or is this just a very thorough ultrasound. Sorry for long post. Blessings to you all and thank-you for your thoughts.
EllaJ.

Re: Ultrasound was 1.5 hours-scared

Wow, ellaJ I'm so sorry your ultrasound took so long. You must have been worried AND uncomfortable. I hope your bladder has recuperated I don't have any answers for you, because I've not gone through that, but your post struck me and I had to reply. I hope the weekend goes by quickly for you and that you get some answers first thing Monday morning. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thumbs up Re: Ultrasound was 1.5 hours-scared

thankyou for your prompt and compasssionate response Karen 32. I guess I'll just have to wait it out like we alldo when these unpleasant things occurr. Its nice to hear a friendly voice out there though. Ironically, I've never been on this board- this summeer has been the one for me I guess, I'm usually on the undiagnosed limboland MS board. I still have to complete tests on that spinal tap being next thing. So as a formerly miss healthy as a horse (except never able to have a baby) I guess its my turn. Have a good weekend- I see fromyour prev posts that you may have cerv c- is that true? Sorry to be nosy. I just hope you're being as good to yourself as you are to others- you seem like a really kind person.
Thanks again, I'll keep you "posted"

Re: Ultrasound was 1.5 hours-scared

EllaJ - how are you doing today? I hope you've heard something by now ... thought of you all weekend, the waiting is so hard, especially over a weekend. I always found it harder, anyway, because during the week you can call, but you can't on a weekend. Sounds like you have alot going on healthwise, sorry to hear that, I hope things can get figured out soon for you. I've always been healthy too, only ever stayed in hospital when I had my babies, it's like a kick in the pants when something does show up.

Yep, I had cervical cancer last summer. They found it when they thought it was only pre-cancer. I've had better surprises in my life! It was very very early, considered the earliest invasive stage thank goodness. You're not being nosy at all, my posts are out there for all to see, just in case someday someone might come along and connect with them and say "aha! I'm not alone". I don't care if anyone replies, I understand that it's hard to put yourself out there when going through stuff like this - I think if I had a better support system around me, I wouldn't have to go to this board and two others I belong to. But I can tell you, it is quite the feeling I get when I'm able to talk to other women who have had similar experiences, or even vastly different experiences. I'd never have that with my friends and family (who worry too much about me anyway...)

I so hope you heard some encouraging news today ...

Karen
