Question Mystery pain comes when asleep - ovary?

Has anyone experienced this, or have any insights for me? -- For over 6 weeks I have been awakened occasionally from deep sleep by pain in my lower left side, which feels like menstrual pain, exactly where my left ovary is. The pain has been coming on average every 3rd or 4th night, in total about 10 times. At first they became excruciating (9 on a pain scale of 10), made my arms & legs cold and head very foggy. A little relief came with very hot bathwater or very hot heating pad on my stomach. It did respond to 600-800 mg of Advil (ibuprofen), sometimes after an hour+, but lately much more quickly. Now I practically leap out of bed at the first sensation of tightness and take the Advil and turn up the heating pad. It goes away in about 20 minutes then. Of course I consulted my doctors early on. The OB/GYN did a physical exam, urine analysis, blood work and ultrasound. My regular doctor ruled out significant fibroids with a CT scan. Both say they can't find any reason for the pain. I feel just fine during the day. I've been referred to a GI specialist, which doesn't seem right to me -- but I'm following up anyway. This is a total mystery to me. Anybody else have this?

Re: Mystery pain comes when asleep - ovary?

Only thing I can say is I have suffered the same ( along with other things ) and the doctor diagnosed me with Irritable Bowel Syndrome after a sigmoidoscopy and blood tests ruled anything else out. lol, I guess I started in the opposite direction of you to find the source of the pain. I also suffer from a uterus tilted in the wrong direction and cervical abnormalties that are not properly diagnosed. I am currently seeing an ob/gyn to see what else could cause the pain. Endometriosis runs in my family, so I am also being tested for that as it can cause pain as well. Sorry I cannot give you a definite, but I thought it might help to hear from someone suffering the same.
