Both Sisters have cervical cancer

Hi,

I have 2 sisters and they both have cervical cancer. They are both older than me, My oldest, oldest one had this type of cancer before and she had surgery & it was cured. She just found last month that it has come back & it's in stage one which is really good becuz' the doctor feels very hopefully in tackling it. Now for my other sister she just found out a week ago we dont know what stage she is in, we go see a Specialist tomorrow for more details. I am a mess. I am the extreme emotional one of the family and I dont know how to handle things like this too well so they are hesitate to tell me things. Since finding out about both I have put on a VERY brave face and they are not seeing my pain inside for them. I am more afraid for them than anything but a part of me keep thinking I'm Next. I know thats kinda crazy to hear someone say but thats whats crossing my mind. I could be next. I will keep my spirits high though because God doesn't give you anything he knows you can't handle it's just too much. To top it off our father just passed 2 1/2 mo. ago so I'm still dealing with that. I guess I just wanted to vant so thanks for listening.

Re: Both Sisters have cervical cancer

I am so sorry you are going through all of this emotion and pain right now. Please try to stay positive, and know that cervical cancer is very treatable!! Your sisters having it doesn't put you at any higher a risk for developing it either, it's not hereditary. There is good news about this form of cancer, it's very preventable, and it's very treatable. It sounds like your sisters' Dr.'s are on it!

Re: Both Sisters have cervical cancer

Hi History,
I've gone through the same thing and I can feel your pain and worry. With knowledge, I believe you can put your mind at ease. Here's a very informative overview on cervical cancer from the University of Maryland Medical Center. This link is allowed as it is a .edu site and does'nt include forums. I sincerely hope this helps you better cope with the stress you're going through right now. Remember this too, when it's caught early, as in the case of your sisters, it's easily treatable.
