Hello, can someone please tell me , if a pap is ascus , hpv results positive, how can they know for sure if its mild without doing a biopsy? They reccommended I just follow-up since it is mild. I thought only biopsy can determine CIN 1 2 or 3.
Also , a while back I did cone biopsy with no clear margins but doctor told me that they got a good portion of cin1 cin2 so the rest may resolve on its own..my followup came back low mild cells, how are they sure that what was left over wasnt cin2 or 3 or worst?
I think I may be thinking too much, but Im just confused on these two topics and its killing me, I want to ask my doctor but I love this board, thank you
How long do they want you to wait for a repeat smear? If it's six months, maybe you can talk to your doc, say you're wary about waiting this long based on your history, see if you can negotiate a check in three or four months instead.
Was this your first follow up after your cone? If yes, how many months between cone and follow up? If less than four months, pap may be picking up healing changes versus actual abnormal cell changes.
I would think if your next pap comes back showing changes you'll be sent for colpo and biopsy. Best to get in to see your doc and tell him/her how unsure you are of not having a biopsy at this time. Be very open and honest with him/her about how your are feeling. Good luck!
Hi , thank u for quick reply, I appreciate it.
I went for pap 4 months exactly following cone..abnormal again
My doctor suggested I do repeat pap smear in 3 months since it was abnormal, I just requested to see my report, I thought it was ASCUS but it is LSIL suggesting mild CIN 1,,,
I guess I just dont understand how my doctor is so sure that it is not CIN2 at this point and that it may regress and if not we just treat again..
