Will I have a breathing tube for my cone biopsy?

I just got off the phone with a friend who has had a few gyn surgeries. She said that when they put her under general anestesia (sp?) she has always had a breathing tube. I am having a cone biopsy on Monday and will be put under general anest.... Now I am nervous about the breathing tube! I think I watch too many medical dramas!!!

Calm down. Probably not for such a short surgery. Call your doctor's office and ask -- ask who the anaesthesiologist will be and what kind of anaesthesia they will be using. Generally the anaesthesiologist talks to you before any surgery anyway. You are probably focusing all your anxiety about the procedure on this detail right now -- worst case scenario, you have a breathing tube and your throat's a little sore? Call your gyne's office and tell them your concerns.

I had a leep under general anaetheasia and I did have a breathing tube. No big deal trust me. They told me my throat may be sore....When i woke up I had no idea I had a breathing tube and my throat was never sore.

Thank you! I know it sounds crazy, but I worry about the silliest things!

It's normal to worry about little details when the big picture is looming. If you have a breathing tube, trust me, you will be asleep before they put one in and you'll be awake, thinking that you haven't even gone to surgery yet, without the tube. It's amazing what a little versed and good anethesia can do! I remember after most of my surgeries being a bit mad that I still was waiting for it to be over when in was over. Just no memory of even doing it!
