| Questions about tests and whats to come
Hi,
I'm new here and hoping to get some feedback and reassurance?! I just turned 39 this past Wednesday and for the past two weeks have been in an emotional turmoil (with more to come).
I haven't been to the Gyn for a good many years and just went the end of January - I've been having heavy & frequent periods. The Gyn ordered an US - the findings....I have two cysts. A small functional one on my right ovary and a complex one on my left. The complex cyst is fluild, mass, solid with "nodules" on it - 7 inches in diameter (the size of an orange, she said - which 7 inches seems to be for an orange but 7cm seems to small?!). We discussed treatment methods of this. Since she didn't do a CA125 a couple of weeks ago (but did find out that everything else is normal - including not being pregnant.....which is good considering I had my tubes tied 8 years ago!!??) I had blood pulled for it yesterday with results back the end of next week?! She also had another US scheduled for 2/9 and a hysterectomy scheduled for 2/15. She did mention that she was going to consult with the Gyn/Onc but he is not yet affiliated with this hospital.
Well, last evening I got a call from my Gyn saying that the Gyn/Onc wants to be included with my case and my surgery for the 15th is now postponed (mainly because he is not affiliated with the hospital until March). Right now they are waiting on results from the 2nd US that will be done on 2/9 and the CA125 results. If the CA125 results come back high....then I'm off to visit him with a whole new series of tests and surgery at his hospital (which isn't a bad thing, I guess....much more advanced then our local one).
My history.....12 years ago I underwent diagnostic surgery for adhesions/scar tissue of the uterus. Was told that they were able to remove a couple but needed the full surgery to remove all. That went fine and ended up having two kids.....because of that surgery, the adhesions/scar tissue and the cyst the Gyn/Onc wants to be involved.....
How worried should I be? I don't really have any symptoms so to speak....everything to date seems "normal" to me. I have a high threshold of pain due to hip pain since I was a child BUT I have put on apprx 15 pounds since the beginning of October (stomach area), I'm very tired, sick feeling every now and again, and do actually have dull to mildly sharp twinges of pain through out my pelvic area.....
Any information greatly appreciated....
Candy
