Thumbs up A Reassuring Story!

Hi everyone

Quick history on me: Oct 2003 abnormal pap CIN III - Dec 2003 had LEEP - June 2004 follow up pap normal - January 2005 follow up pap normal.

I had my annual pap on Jan 24th and have just got the results. I am pleased to say they are NORMAL I am in the UK and everything is done on the NHS (National Health Service). The only downside of this is that you have to wait nearly 4 weeks for pap results to come back. The waiting is terrible but I do feel so lucky that we have the NHS as all medical treatment, paps and doctor visits do not cost anything.

I wanted to post my story to reassure those of you who are waiting or have recently had a LEEP for CIN III that things do get better. I am happy to say that since my LEEP my paps have been normal for 2 years.

Thank you for listening and for past advice. I will continue to check the forum to see how you are all getting on. Love & Peace

Re: A Reassuring Story!

I will add to this. I had years of cin 1, 2, 1, 2, then a 3 (failed cryo) and finally after 3 opinions, had a combo laser leep. Had the 4 month and 8 month follow up paps and BOTH WERE CLEAR I wouldnt have believed it a year ago.

I highly suggest the laser/leep combo, it's not for everyone but for those with a large lesion or lesion in a hard to reach area - OR for those who are planning to have children - this is a great option.

Re: A Reassuring Story!

Thank you so much for posting a successful outcome for treatment of CIN3. I too am dealing with severe dysplasia and have had my 2nd LEEP just recently. It is encouraging to hear about successfully treated cases of severe dysplasia when so much of what is posted on this board is scary and discouraging. Reading reassuring stories such as yours helps to keep me thinking positive thoughts that this time, the 2nd LEEP will work for me. Keeping my fingers crossed....

Re: A Reassuring Story!

I'm glad someone finally posted some "happy" stories on this board! When I was going through the same ordeal, it would have been nice to read these reasurring words :-)
I too had the same surgery as Lobo1977, laser/leep. After 3 biopsies, numerous colposcopies and 2 doctors opinions, and a final result of CinIII, I went through with the surgery on February 7th, 2006.
My 3 month check up went awesome, my pap came back CLEAN !! THe first in almost 2 years .... I have my second follow up on July 10th, the 6 month appointment, and I'm hoping for the same results.
As an additional positive light to my story, I am now 11.5 weeks pregnant with my first child!! Although I will be considered a "high-Risk" pregnancy, with the proper attention and care, my Dr. expects the outcome to be just fine!
Good luck to all the other women who have to go through what many have already ... it'll be tough, but do remember that there is such thing as "happily-ever-after" !! Take care!
