Effects of 2 LEEPs on future pregnancies - Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Message Board

Hello Everyone!

I'm looking for any information on the effects of having two LEEPs on future pregnancies. Everything that I have read indicates there is a risk, but there are never any specfic details. Has anyone had normal/healthy pregnancies after 2 LEEPs? Has anyone experienced difficulties, but still had a healthy baby?

The reason I am asking is because back in March I had my first LEEP for CIN III with a depth of .7mm. The margins came back positive, but I refused to worry until my next colpo. At the end of July I had my colpo and biopsy (which she decided would be best given I had positive margins) and it came back CIN I in one spot and CIN I to II in another pot. Now, my doctor said that she normally only watches CIN I, so basically everything was hanging on the CIN I to CIN II. She decided to have another pathologist look at my slides. Yesterday, she called with bad news. The spot that the first pathologist determined was CIN I, the new pathologist determined was a CIN I to CIN II and the spot that the first pathologist determined was CIN I to CIN II, the new pathologist determined was CIN II to CIN III. Given all of this, she wants to go ahead with the second LEEP of another .7mm. Should I have this done? How is it possible to be in arange from I-III?

I am so scared of not having children. Can anyone help?

Hi Shiela

I have had two colposcopies already. After one of these, they carried out a burning/freezing treatment and after the other one they carried out a leep (or loop as we call them in the UK). Both of these were for CIN 1 changes.

I'm 15 and a half weeks pregnant now and I've mentioned to my midwives that I am worried about my cervix being incompetent. I am scheduled to have an examination in the next few weeks and I guess that if there is a problem, they will put a stitch in there to hold the baby in place.
