Hi All,

So I had my second cone biopsy done on 11/5/2007 for adenocarcinoma in-situ. My first cone done on 9/13 had "extensive" positive margins and was sent to a second pathologist in Harvard because of the uncertainty of whether or not the cells had become invasive. The results took almost two weeks to come back and I was a mess. So this time, I didn't believe the doctor when he said that the results would be back in a week. I decided to give a quick call today just because I hate waiting and the nurse said that she had my pathology results but the doctor wasn't in to discuss them in detail. She was able to tell me though that the margins of my second cone were clear!!!

I have never been happier in my life! Now I just need to recover from the surgery and diligently go for my follow up visits.

I just wanted to share my positive experience and tell others out there to stay positive. This board has helped me so much and I can't thank all of you enough for the support.

I also want to state again that adenocarcinoma in-situ is NOT cancer. I asked my doctor this question again because of the debate on whether or not it is considered cancer. It is a pre-cancerous condition (essentially the step before becoming invasive cancer) or Stage 0.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you!

I remember you from your earlier posts. I believe we had a similar diagnosis. I had an abnormal pap come back in July. It was atypical glandular cells. A colpo showed adenocarcinoma in-situ. I had a LEEP cone biopsy on 9/6. My results came back with clear margins, but my path report showed that my oncologist took the cone out and then an additional section of tissue from both the right and left side. The cone showed abnormal cells close to the margins, but the additional tissue taken was all clear.

My recovery went very well. (I think the doctor did a very good job) Sometimes I couldn't even tell that I'd had anything done and had to remind myself to take it easy. Now I'm currently waiting for my first 3 month follow-up on 11/30.

This board was incredibly helpful! The doctor tells you what a rare condition/test result you have and then you go online and find so many women going through the same thing. It made me feel so much better to be able to connect with other women going through the same thing and to hear their stories.
