Red face Beat Cervical cancer now trying really hard and scared

My husband and I decided to start trying and I wanted an extra checkup....so we went in expecting to leave with pre-nat vitimins. I got the vitamins, but the 10 days later got bed results. Went in for testing again and was found to have stage zero "non-invasive" cervical cancer. After some procedures (leep, coldknife etc) I am very blessed to keep my cervix and finally get my results back of clear margins. I also face papsmears for the next 3 years every 3 months (and that is scary in itself...all the what-ifs) Meanwhile, we have been left in the dust....both neighbors got pregnant with their 2nd children. My husband and I turned 30 (we have no children) and I am wondering if these proceedures can hyarm our ability to get pregnant.

Anyone out there face similar situations and had positive outcomes? I just need a little out there!

One last thing...I was told by my doctor to have children, basically get it done and then I will have a simple hyster. So time is of the essences

Re: Beat Cervical cancer now trying really hard and scared

Hi Carolina. I had high grade dyslasia and had a LEEP procedure. I asked my doctor the risk I will have when (and if) I become pregnant. She said that she would need to monitor me 2 times more than the "normal" woman, especially as I grow. There is a risk for anyone who has had this type of procedure however your doctor can give you specific info since he/she knows first hand about your procedures. Many woman on this board moved on to have healthy children after procedures!

Best of luck!

Re: Beat Cervical cancer now trying really hard and scared

Hi there! I've had two LEEP procedures and 4 colpo's, and I was able to get pregnant almost immediately with my daughter. My doctor monitored me extra closely and at 13 weeks I had to have my cervix sewn shut (called a cerclage) because it had already shortened drastically. Talk to your doctor about your fertility issues, but I'd venture to say your chances of being able to get pregnant are no different than a normal person, it's just that you may need some special measures to stay pregnant with the loss of part of your cervix.
Hope this helps!
