Cold Knife Cone and Intercourse...

I had a Cold Knife Cone procedure done May 28, 2008 with no complications. After the surgery there was no bleeding or cramping. I went to my two week follow up appointment June 10, 2008 and the doctor said that everything looks great and the stitches are healing just fine. I forgot to discuss intercourse with my gyno. My husband has been working out of town since March and he will be returning home June 29th. Would I still need to refrain from intercourse or will a little over 4 weeks be long enough?

Re: Cold Knife Cone and Intercourse...

Amber..
My MD said nothing goes in for 4 weeks including tampons.
I have had two Cone Biopsies.. One on 4-17 and the last one on 6-13-08After thefirst one - had my follow up at 3 weeks and was told I was cleared for intercourse.. But I will say that I did have spotting after one occasion since then. This time Im following up at 4 weeks .. and assume will be cleared at that time as well.

Yu should just contact your MD to be safe!
and Good Luck!

Re: Cold Knife Cone and Intercourse...

I had my LEEP done June 4 - my doctor told me no intercourse or tampon use until he sees me for my follow-up visit 4 weeks later. I return on July 2 which will be exactly 4 weeks after my LEEP.

I had NO complications following my LEEP, no bleeding etc - but I am following his directions to a T. I will get my period a few days before I see him - and will wear pads this month rather then tampons.

Why not play it safe. They removed a layer of the cervix, so best to do exactly what your doctor advises. Cold knife takes off even more then a LEEP so if I were you - I'd wait until he examines you as says your cervix has healed adequately..
