Some people consider HPV a sexual transmitted virus because it is transmitted by skin to skin contact. From what I understand LGSIL (and HGSIL) are caused by HPV (there are 20 different strains that can affect the genitals). IF your LGSIL is caused by HPV, then by that definition you have an STD. There is no treatment for high risk HPV, so yes, it can be spread.
You also need to know that something like 80% of women over the age of 50 have been exposed to HPV at some point in their life. If you have more than one sex partner (in your life) (and if he/she has had more than 1 sex partner) then there is a very good chance you have been exposed to HPV. That is true for everyone who is (or ever was) sexually active.
