Re: Ovarian Cyst?
It is difficult to know for sure if you have an ovarian cyst until they do the ultrasound. Pain down there could be from many things, including constipation, appendicitis, pelvic infection and of course, ovarian cysts. The ultrasound will definitely tell you if the pain caused by an ovarian cyst but you could also have simply had a normal functional cyst that ruptured and released fluid into your abdomen. While the fluid is being reabsorbed by your body, you would be achey and tender ... usually for up to a week. Do you know when within your cycle you started to experience the pain ? If it was about 2 weeks after the start of your last period then it occured during ovulation .. I realize that you are on the pill, but some women still ovulate while on the pill. This is because the estrogen content of our modern pills are quite low and they now know that women are still growing ovarian follicles which sometimes release an egg. Don't worry, your endometrial lining is so thin while on the pill (due to all of the progesterone) that there is no way you will become pregnant (the egg cannot embed itself in your lining in order to become fertilized).
I hope you find an answer to your problem. Come back and let us know how you are doing. All the best.
