Pain after ovarian cyst removal

Hi,

This is my first post to this group. I had an ovarian cyst removal surgery 2 months ago. The cyst was of 6cm diameter and was attached to my left fallopian tube.Only the cyst was removed and the tube and ovary were left in tact. I was recovering well except i had some heavy flow and pain during the next 2 periods. But now my cyst symptoms are coming back.I have a dull pain in my lower back that sometimes spreads to my left thigh. Also I am having a bloated feeling . Is it normal during the healing period or I have to doubt that my cyst has come back?

thanks
Sandy

Hi Sandy! I don't know much about ovarian cysts or its symptoms, but I'm sure someone will come along who can help.

Hey Sandy!

I am with Pickle Eyes on this as I am not too familiar with ovarian cysts. I just wanted to drop by and say WELCOME to the board! We are so happy to have you here with us...hehehe...

Like PE said someone with way more knowledge will stop by shortly and help you out. Remember, if you ever need anything and need to vent, that is why we are here :-)

Re: Pain after ovarian cyst removal

Hello Sandi,

The only way to know for sure if your cyst has returned is to have an ultrasound done. Why not contact your doctor and see if you can schedule one to make sure ?

If it happened once it can certainly happen again. However, another possible cause for your pain may be surgical adhesions which sometimes occur after surgery and cause discomfort. This scar tissue occurs where they would have cauterized which in your case would be inside the ovary.

I am sure that your doctor would understand your concern over this and I would certainly insist on a follow up ultrasound to ensure that all is as it should be in there.

Take care and let us know how everything goes.

Estria

Re: Pain after ovarian cyst removal

Hello again Sandi,

I just reread your post where you said that the cyst was on your fallopian tube and not inside your ovary. Scar tissue may be a definite possibility especially after two months.

Bring this up with your doctor and see if another ultrasound is possible.

Best,

Estria
