Is a LEEP the same as LEEP cone biopsy? - Cancer: Cervical & Ovarian Message Board

I just got paperwork regarding the procedure my Dr wants to do. Im actually going to get a 2nd opinion with a gyn/onc in the meantime and Im sure the new Dr will end up doing whatever procedure is needed. However...... when the original Dr I saw got the colposcopy/biopsy results back she had said I would need a LEEP procedure. Well, I got the paperwork in the mail and it shows LEEP cone biopsy. Is that the same thing? If she would ever return a call I would ask her (one of the reasons I am going to see someone else!).

Yes, a LEEP is a LEEP cone biopsy. They can also do something called a Top Hat LEEP.

What was the results of your colpo/biopsy? When is your appointment with your gyn/onc. I was MUCH more comfortable with my gyn/onc than I was with my gyn (i'd only seen her for 2 visits - my GP does/did my paps before that).

I'm in the same boat, I only went to the gyn once (for the colp)....before that my regular Dr had done my paps. I think it will be good when I go to see the gyn/onc.
I had posted the results to the colp a few days ago, I think you had actually responded on that thread. They did a biopsy on 4 spots, 2 came back as CIN III Hsil, one came back as "rare severely dysplastic cells present" (that was from ECC), and the other showed chronic inflammation. Im still not too sure on the results. I called the gyn I had seen 4 times this week. she called back one time and left a message that she would try calling me back later that day and i never heard back. Needless to say I have been a wreck, and probably will be until next Monday when I go to see the gyn/onc.
so I wasnt aware that a LEEP and LEEP cone biopsy are the same. thank you for that info.

Lindsroc, I'm sorry, but I'm not good at associating names with prior posts. I'm bad that way. I knew I recognized your name, and knew I'd read (and proably replied) to your posts, but I just didn't remember the details. Sorry!

Are you getting your list of questions ready to take to the gyn/onc? I went with several pages of questions. I ended up not needing to ask all of them, but it helped me "study" before the appointment so I had a half-a-clue what I was talking about and what she was saying.
