Ask your doctor to send you for testing to see if you are insulin resistant. I have always had irregular periods, since I started at age 11, and they only became more infrequent as I got older (I'm now 40), including bouts of irregular bleeding/spotting/bloody discharge. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my late teens/early 20s, and was told that was the reason for the irregular periods. I was recently diagnosed as insulin resistant, and am now told THAT is the reason for the PCOS and the irregular periods (they think!).
I don't have these symptoms, but weight gain and excessive body/facial hair are signs of insulin resistance, as are dark (or darker) patches on the skin, usually on your shoulders, neck and/or face. If it turns out you are insulin resistant, they can put you on Metformin (or another similar drug), which is a pill that you take daily, and that should help you process insulin efficiently. It may also resolve issues with irregular periods and the other side effects listed above. I've only been on it for about three months, and they're not sure if it's working for me yet. I was away for a while and taking other meds that made testing for the insulin not feasible in the past month, but will be following up on all of this shortly....so I can't tell you if it worked for me.
I doubt that what you're describing is a sign of something that was missed during the pap/colpo.
Hope this helps!!
