CINIII x3 - update

Hiya everyone, not sure you'll remember me cos I've been away from here for a while.
Short story is I've been dealing with CINIII for a few years now, had 2 Leeps followed by smears which showed abnormal cells, followed by colpos that thought they'd got the bad cells nly for them to come back again the next time.
Worst one was earlier this year when I had a Leep done under general anaesthetic. The surgeon said there's nothing left to take away now and if I want a family I should start pronto (not an option - just started college and can't see us being ready for at least 2 years).
Anyway, 2 months after my op I phoned the hospital to ask why I'd not been called in for a check-up because the previous times I was called in 3 months after to check I was healing ok.
Got told I was being daft and the surgeon had obviously got everything this time (yeah, like he did the 2x before). Argued my case though and managed to get an appointment for November.
Then yesterday I get a letter saying he wants to see me next Tuesday.
Phoned up to ask about it because it's scared the life out of me. The secretary phoned me back today to say that he wanted to meet me in person to discuss future management of my "condition". She said I should bring someone with me if I can.
What does that mean? What condition? What future management?
The secretary couldn't tell me anything over the phone (not her fault, I know they can't) but I could tell there was more to tell me.
Really annoyed because I can't make the appt on Tuesday (I've got a meeting and then volunteering at the nursery, need to do it to stay on my course so can't cancel) so I've had to reschedule the apt for the 2nd Oct.
I'm probably just being paranoid but I don't understand why I got told there was no need to go in until Nov and then they ask me to go in next week instead.
Keep telling myself it can't be too bad cos they'd have insisted I go in rather than let me change the appt if it was serious.
Any ideas?
Could do with some kind words ladies. Hope you're all ok.
Loves
xxxxxxxx

Re: CINIII x3 - update

Hi Alix --

Glad to see you back and posting! Hope you are doing well.

I have given up trying to figure out exactly how the medical community in general thinks they treat patients fairly, and how they expect us not to go nuts when their info is often unclear or their treatment recommendations constantly changing....so I wish I had a good answer for you as to what may be going on with your appointment! Please report back and let us know what's going on.

I wouldn't worry yet about the appointment being moved up from November. For all you know the doctor could have come in and announced he's taking a month long holiday and wants to get all of his patients in before he leaves. No need to panic about something that, although concerning your medical appointment, could have absolutely nothing to do with your health and just be some administrative scheduling matter.

Remember, remain calm till then, although easier said than done, I know

I don't have anything to add, but wanted to jump in, say I agree with Zoe, give you some (((((hugs))))))) and reiterate that you need to keep yourself distracted so you won't worry so much. I know that last one is a tall order. Worring won't change the outcome though. Use this time to generate your list of questions. Have someone go with you to your appointment.

And keep up posted! ((((hugs)))))

Re: CINIII x3 - update

Thanks Zoe and Pickle.
I know you're right, there's no point in worrying myself over something that might turn out to be nothing.
Trying to stay calm about the appointment being moved (though I'm not sure if the Nov one is still open too, that was for another smear/colpo, the one in Oct is to "discuss my condition and it's future treatment").
Hoping my Mum can come with me but failing that I've got friends who can. Can't ask my partner because he doesn't deal with this stuff very well at all and I'd end up being more worried about him than anything else.
Think the scariest thing for me is being told I have a "condition". I have no idea what that means.
Oh well, will just have to wait and see now. Must admit I have very little faith in this consultant/surgeon. Why's he waited so long to ask me in if there's a problem? Why's he asked me in at all if here's no problem and I already have an appt for November?
Think I'm still a bit upset at him asking me if I'd finished my family after the last op when I've not even started it. My notes scream that I want to try and preserve my fertility so his question makes it clear he never read them.
Doesn't give me much confidence but I'll just wait and see what he has to say.
Thanks again for your support ladies.
Much appreciated.
Loves.

Re: CINIII x3 - update

Ugh Alix, this is super annoying! I think Zoe is right about it could very well have something to with the doctor and not with you! From what you said, though, it sounds like he just wants to discuss future scenarios with you. Like hypothetically what you want to do if certain things happen. Not really a fun conversation, but I think you probably already know what your options are.

Still, it's ridiculous to expect you to just sit around not knowing. It's YOUR information. It's not some secret they can keep from you. Are they purposefully trying to drive you insane??

Seriously, I'd call them up and tell them that if they didn't tell me right now, I'd be coming down to their office and camping out until someone spoke with me!!! But that's just me . . .

Please keep us updated!
