Moderate to Severe Dysplasia result of ECC

I received my biopsy and Ecc results today. The punch biopsy revealed severe dysplasia and the ECC revealed moderate to severe dysplasia. I am wondering if the ECC results indicate glandular involvement...?? Is is possible to have a squamous lesion in the endocervical canal. I am curious because my doctor has never mentioned that there was any glandular involvement. I am scheduled for the LEEP procedure one week from today. I questioned my doctor whether it was possible to find cancer existed after the LEEP taking my results into consideration.. she said there was a very slight chance. I am curious if anyone knows the statistics on LEEP findings and if they are normally consistent with pap/biopsy results or if they often uncover more hidden disease. Any input would be appreciated.... I am so confused and worried!!! How is cancer still possible if the biopsies did not indicate cancer?

Re: Moderate to Severe Dysplasia result of ECC

If there is glandular involvement, then most doctors perform a CKC (cold knife cone) rather than a LEEP (unless the doctor isn't trained/skilled at CKCs). Ask clarification before going to the LEEP. Ask if there is glandular/columnar cell involvement and/or adenocarcinoma insitu (AIS). If so, ask why the doctor is doing a LEEP rather than a CKC. I don't have time tonight to explain why, but can do so later (maybe not until this weekend). You might also look at some of my other posts about adenocarcinoma to see if you can read one of my other explanations on LEEP vs CKC for glandular involvement.

I hoep that helps a bit!
