| Newbie: Have Cold Knife Cone scheduled
Hello all!
So I had my first irregular pap, than we did a colposcopy.
So, the colposcopy showed abnormal cells (many dna strands) and the gyn is setting me up for a cone. She had initially thought she'd just do LEEP or the freeze procedure, but only after she saw the results of the colposcopy did she say a cone was actually needed.
Does this mean it was more spread than she had anticipated?
you can tell she is thrown off/surprised b/c I get paps every year, so pretty fast progression it seems, to require a cone biopsy.
is it at this point cancer? precancer?
is it part of a polyp?
I wonder how many women who get colposcopies end up getting a cone?
Does immediately requesting a cone instead of LEEP tend to mean more presence of abnormality?
