Hi everyone...I'm brand new here. Just found the board last night and registered a few minutes ago.
Anyway, I just wanted to meet others that have maybe been in this position before...On Wednesday night last week I out of the blue started with a severe pain, finally went to the doctor on Thursday afternoon and they sent me to the ER thinking appendicitis. Well, I had a CT scan done and appendix was fine, however they found a complex cyst (not sure of the size) on my right ovary. They also did a pelvic and right off noted my cervix was inflamed and asked when my last pap was (nearly 6 years ago...I slacked off after having my son, I know that was bad). Anyway, based on these findings they told me I need to see a gynecologist ASAP and my appointment is tomorrow. The ER doctor actually called the gynecologist and gave a report on me and the gynecologist wanted to see me in 4-5 days. They gave me some antibiotics in the ER (Rocephin IV and 4 zithromax pills) to knock out any infection due to fever and elevated white count.
Can anyone give me an idea what to expect at the gynecologist tomorrow? They have my CT results, not sure about any other results.
I am kind of scared as I've read complex cysts can be cancerous and I've also read that the inflamed cervix could also be cancerous. I'm only 29, will be 30 in a few weeks.
Does a complex cyst always mean surgery? I've had "normal" cysts before, but never a complex cyst and I didn't even think anything of the complex cyst until I did some reading after I was home.
Also - I have a lot of pressure in my rectal and vaginal area - is this from the cyst or the inflamed cervix?
Hi Lori! Amazing that you and I are going thru the exact same issue. I posted under a different board & have yet to receive a response. I did go to a gyno oncologist last wed, had a pap and my dr put my on birth control to see if that would reduce the cysts (I have multiple). He wants me back for an ultrasound in 6 weeks. I am worried too about waiting. Lots of cancer history in my family. I'll keep you posted. Jen
Hi I went to the gyno today and they kinda told me the same thing, also have had the same pressure in the rectal area. I am just wondering if you would tell me what they found. I know that I have cervical diplasia and I had not been back to the doctor in awile and now I feel like it is something more severe. I too have kids and it prevents you from going to the doctor as you should. I hope everyting turned out good for you. Heather
Doctor gave me the option of surgery or to try birth control pills for 6 weeks. I picked birth control pills, BUT I think I'm going to be going for surgery sooner rather than later...Pain has been getting worse again after a little over a week on the pills. The gyn said it isn't a complex cyst, but a bilobed cyst...Size is 6.5cm by 3.5cm
They did a pap, but I haven't heard the results as of yet.
hello lori, the same thing is going on with me and i have an OB specialist appointment tomorrow. i also have a complex cyst which is on my left ovary and then once they did a pelvic exam the doctor said i had an inflamed cervix. all i see with the inflamed cervix is cancer so im more than worried and hoping that my hormones r just having some crazy jump and thats what caused the cyst in the first place. please let me know what ended up happening to u i would appreciate it a lot. thanks u -geneva
