It's been discovered I have a 8.4 cm complex cyst on my ovary- I am so scared.
I am 23, the pain started over a year ago in which I took myself to A&E. No scan, just told to go home and take paracetamol. Happened again, and was told it was a urine infection. Finally i was at a routine dr appointment and I had (in my opinion) the best doctor at the surgery. She referred me for a scan and it was discovered.
Been to Gyn, had another scan, and surgery scheduled for 8 August. My ovaries couldn't be seen on either scan, and the GYN doesn't know what type of cyst it is- he said its not consistent with a endo one.
I am so scared!! I am only 23 and this has shocked me. I am scared its cancer or that both my ovaries are "dead" (he Said they could be twisted around the cyst which is why they can't be seen) and scared I won't be able to conceive
Anyone gone through this? Need some reassurance badly!!
I am 26 and have a grapefruit sized cyst removed from my left ovary in february. It was twisted around and stuck inside my pelvis, they had a hard time getting it out but they did without any complications Thankfully and it was non cancerous! Wellllll 5 Months later I have another cyst on my right ovary already 3 cm and he wants to do surgery again. They are going to recheck in 3 months to see if it has grown, if so then surgery. Not trying to scare you, but my surgery went fine was just sore for a couple of days. Was out of work for 2 weeks. Good luck with everything, keep your chin up
O sorry forgot to mention, they couldnt see my ovary on the scan so he thought he was going to have to take it out, but he did not have to after all. Once he got in there it was visible the cyst was just twisting it towhere it would not show on the scan.

Thank you for sharing your story. Was your cyst complex? Any idea on the cause?
I don't know if I can be of much help, but I have a 10 cm complex cyst. My doctor told me the same thing, he cannot see the ovary. He wasn't concerned about it. Sounds like that is not uncommon, so please don't let that scare you too much. In my case, I think it's just because the cyst is so big they can't get a good look.
Yes mine was complex and everyone gets cysts just some peoples cysts dont fall off when they are suppose to then they grow. The main time people get cysts are during the childbearing years.
