I have to have laser ablation for high grade dysplasia. Just wondering if anyone has had this and if they had local or general? im SCARED TO DEATH to have general. any input would help! thanks.
Re: laser ablation....local or general anesthesia?!
From what I've heard from others (cuz I had a LEEP, not the laser) it's a quick procedure and you can do it under just local- you just need to be sure it's the whole numbing injection/novacaine-type injection because it can hurt if you're not numbed all the way. Maybe you should ask your doctor what s/he recommends. Let us know how it goes!
Re: laser ablation....local or general anesthesia?!
thank you. my gyn/onc said I could do local but most people do general. I just don't see why take the risk of general for a 20 minute or less procedure. I really appreciate it.
Re: laser ablation....local or general anesthesia?!
I am heading for my second lot of burning off the dodgy cells grade III. I cannot cope, the burning freaks me out. I have asked to be sedated but they will not do this in this area. I am seeing the doc tomorrow to ask for a general for I dont want to go through it again. I know it is common procedure and I was never a wimp till having this done. I have had spinal cortisone injections and all of these were better than this. Most people cope great with it from reading these posts but I cannot stand it. Am sure you will be fine though. Big hugs and good luck.
