Polyps - Cancer: Colon Message Board

Does anyone know what percent of colon polyps that are removed turn out to be malignant? I know that something like 80% or 90% of breast lumps turn out to be benign. I would like to know what the percentage is for colon polyps. My friend had a colon polyp removed today. How long does it take for the biopsy results? Thank you.

sister it depends on size and deepness if its cancerous or not! just from experience i have had several polyps removed and last one was what they called pre-cancerous ! because of the size if i would have let it go longer than another month it would have turned in to cancer! it took 1 week for my result to come back. good luck to her if you have any other questions just let me know
