I am in my mid forties. I suffer from almost daily internal gas pains and bloating. Most of the time it hits me at work after lunch or wakes me up in the middle of the night. The pain can get pretty bad to the point I feel like I am going to pass out then I get cold sweats. The pain usually dissipates after a bout of dirreahea if I am lucky. I also get blood (bright red) usually because I can’t tell if there is blood in the stool. It sometimes gets as much as if menstruating and sometimes it does not stop for a few minutes or so. I know red blood is associated with hemorrhoids. Do these two situations signify any signs for colon cancer. I am going for a colonoscopy next month.

There are three other conditions that I can think of that can cause similar symptoms - although usually not with so much blood loss - Crohns Disease, IBS/IBD and Ulcerative Colitis. You can look up these and other digestive diseases at this link:

Wondering how your problem turned out. My husband goes this morning for surgery for colon. Surgeon says everything looks good but I am VERY nervous about this. Thanks
