Thin stool and Metamucil, please read! - Cancer: Colon Message Board

I am hoping you guys can settle something. I have an argument going with someone that if someone had thin stools because of Colon Cancer and began taking Metamucil, the metamucil would not change the size of the stool because an obstruction would be causing the thin stools. If someone had colon cancer and developed thin stools, would taking a fiber supplement magically make the obstruction cease making the stool thin? ALso, I believe that thin stool, and flat stool are the same thing, he says that flat stool is uusally rounded on one side and flat on the other whereas a thin stool is flat on both sides and the size of a ribbon. Who is right on both accords?

I had flat stools in both shapes: one flat side and two flat sides, as a ribbon, but they was not so thin, really they was 1" x 1/2" approx.

When I started to take Metamucil, my stools recovered its normal shape and size. They are now fully rounded and about 1 1/4" thick.

So, my flat stools was not the result of a partial obstruction, because, as you said, Metamucil is not magic.

I guess I have IBS, but I do not have all IBS symptoms, however some IBS tests says I can have IBS. Perhaps it is a simple bowel motility disorder.
