Stage 4 - just info to share - Cancer: Colon Message Board

Hi
My husband has stage 4 colon cancer diagnosed April 03. Has spread to liver and one node on lung. He had surgery May to resection bowel, then 3 months oxiplatin/5fu. The chemo did the trick and shrunk tumours in liver so they could do the liver resection and he is now recovering in hospital. They are planning to do 3 more months of chemo. Thats as far ahead as the docs will look.
Question: Will the extra chemo do anything to the lung?

I'm sure it will. Chemo attacks the fasted growing cells, cancer, hair, nails. It should help the lungs too. Best of luck to your husband, that chemo is no fun but it gave me my life back. Let us know how he is doing

Husband still in hospital but expects to be out in couple of days. He has got over this op better than the first but had the luxury of 30lbs extra body weight !!
My main concern about the forthcoming chemo and lung node is that the lung thing appeared between 1st and 2nd scan.... ie. during his first 3 months of chemo, so if it appeared during chemo will the 2nd 3 months have any affect ? We will go for it anyway and try to keep strong. He is only 45 and has age and an otherwise healthy body to his advantage.
