My 37 yr old sister has been having blood in her stool for about 6 months with every BM. Her BMs are always hard and she complains of stinging and soreness with each BM. The bleeding is bright red streaks on the surface of the stool, colors the water in the toilet. and is bright red when she wipes. Yesterday she went to the toilet and only passed gas (no BM) and had considerable rectal bleeding that colored the water in the toilet. Could this still be hemmorroids? Can just the pressure of passing gas cause a hemmorrhoid or fissure to bleed? Can stress cause bleeding if it aggrivates a gastric problem (ie; IBS or colitis?) She is going to call the doc tomorrow to have this checked out but we were hoping for some input from folks on this board. Thanks.
It could be several things from hemmoroids to colon cancer. I'm glad she is going to the doctor, she does need to find out what is wrong, something is definately wrong, and it may not be bad. Good luck and let us know what is happening with her.
