Please Help Me!!! Inoperable Colon Cancer - Cancer: Colon Message Board

Hello,
I have been battling Colon Cancer now for a year, I have been to a couple different doctors and taking a variety of chemotherapy treatments. The cancer is not going into remission, it also is not spreading. My doctor is trying more aggressive chemotherapy but the cancer is still not budging.
My question is my doctor says that my cancer is inoperable, and can't perform surgery. Does this mean that there is absolutely no way to operate on me to remove the tumor? Is it inoperable cancer just to my doctor and not to others, or does it mean that no doctor can perform the surgery successfully?
I don't know what to do anymore, if chemotherapy isn't working then is this it for me! What else do I do?

Hi ZapCancer,

I was going to say "get yourself to M.D.Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX!". But then I read your other post. I still think if there is any way, they are the best cancer hospital!!! You might try to at least get in touch with them and have your records sent. If anyone can help you, I am sure they can!

I would say contact The Faber institute in boston. People come from every where to go there. They are Number one for cancer Treatment. Good Luck I will say a pray for you.

I would also check Laurence Yee and Calfornia Pacific hospital. He is one of the best surgeons for colon cancer. He did an awsome job with me. Definately get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. You will be in my prayers

Because you live in the Northeast, I would recommend that you look at MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING in NYC. Please check out their web site re cancer info and a listing of physicians who specialize in colo/rectal cancer. The CC operates 3 satelite sites located in Westchester, NJ and Long Island where chemo/radiation treatments are administered. VALLEY HOSPITAL in northern NJ is also another fine institution for cancer with excellent doctors. I have no guess as to why your doc thinks your cancer is "inoperable" but I do know that when dealing with the medical profession you must be aggressive & persistent with them so that your best interests are served.
