I've been having occasional sharp (shooting) pains in my colon (or bowels?) for several months now. They are uncomfortable, and this morning I actually woke up to the same shooting pain in that region. I don't understand because there are times where I won't feel the pain for weeks, and then today, all of a sudden, it was the worse than it's ever been. The pain is very sudden and sharp, and it doesn't last very long at all. But it's still enough to get me concerned, as I never felt this sort of thing before. Again, it usually goes away after a bowel movement.
What do you think this could be? I fear that I could have colon cancer. I'm a 22 year old male, who works out at the gym very frequently and I always watch what I eat... I never eat any junk food, chips, pop, etc.
Mike.. as the previous post said, it could be anything but I agree, go and see your doctor.. Have u had any bleeding?
If so, please ask your doctor for a colonoscopy which is aa test to see whats going up in there all. Goodluck and let us know what the doc said.
Thanks for the responses guys. Well, I'm going to get checked out as soon as my family doctor opens up again...they are on holidays until january 3rd. I finally decided to do this as I noticed some blood in my stool today...which is utterly annoying and makes me not look forward to bowel movements.
ok Mike.. It is important now to make sure that your doctor orders a COLONOSCOPY!!! Its not painful at all )just the preparation is a bit much) but its the only way to really tell whats going on down there.
Goodluck and keep us posted.
Take care of you
