| Low White Blood Cell Count Question
A new question this time around. I missed my scheduled chemo treatment last week, so got it today. The white blood cell count was acceptable, but still on the low side. I get my 5-fu pump removed on Thursday and may have to get a shot for the white blood cell count on Friday. I've read some of the Neulasta info and see that this usually occurs in older patients. I'm 62, so are any of you all going through any of this? Does your doc prescribel Neulasta, or wait for the count to come up by itself? Do you have bone pain? I want to get all of my treatments over with and not have to go to a reduced level, so I don't mind a little bone pain as long as I can take non-narcotic drugs for it. Do any of you experience other side effects from Neulasta or other white cell booster medication, (diarrhea and alopecia were mentioned)? I know everybody is different..... I consider myself very fortunate so far to have had it as easy as I've had it, though I've been warned, it gets worse as you go along.
Thanks in advance for any info you can supply.
