Rose:
It is entirely possible. It sounds as though you MAY have not had a good experience with your colonoscopy the first time. My advise would be to find another GI for this one. Make sure that you are adequately medicated... if you experience ANY discomfort during the procedure, PLEASE TELL THEM and they will give you more medicine to make you more comfortable, help you forget, and make you fall into sleep. After the procedure is over, you will have gas in the Recovery Room. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.
It is important to have a colonoscopy so that the GI can remove any polyps that may be developing. If they are precancerous, then it's important that the GI remove them before they turn cancerous and grow into the wall of the colon. It may be difficult for you to do this procedure based on your past experiences. I REALLY think you will be VERY relieved, and see that a colonoscopy does NOT have to be, and shouldn't be at all painful. The hardest part should be the prep... you can help yourself out by not eating so much for a day or two before the prep day. Also, drink a sports drink with electrolytes to prevent dehydration. I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS!
I wish you the BEST OF LUCK!!! PLEASE Come back and tell us how things went.
Warm Regards,
CancerDad
