What to expect for my treatment

I am a female age 77. I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had the tumor and part of the colon removed measuring 34 cm in total length last week. My report says that the tumour is seen invading the submucosa, muscular wall and is present in the subserosal tissue. A total of 15 lymph nodes sampled from the subserosal tissue of which 6 reveal tumour metastasis. In addition, isolated tumour deposits are present in the subserosal fibrofatty tissue.

I will be meeting with my oncologist next week. I am worried at this moment. What will I be expecting? What can I do at the meantime to prepare for my eventual treatment? Thanks.

Re: What to expect for my treatment

I was 52 when they found mine. they took 12 inches of my colon, 32 nodes (8 were showed cancer) and a mass mastisizing (not sure that is spelled correctly) on my abdominal wall. I had 6 months of chemo and I did better than most. I found eating crackers every hour kept me from feeling sick, riding in the car made me sick. Be prepared for extreme lack of energy. The worst part for me was burning diarrhea. Get plenty of Boudreux's Butt Paste,Aveeno produsts helped too. White rice, applesuace and bananas are great for stopping some of it. I personally think I made the right choice to do chemo because the node were involved. Something else to think about is taking vitamins and Milk Thistle. Some doctors poo poo this but the milk thistle helps you liver heal and you will be pushing alot of poison through it.
