Colonoscopy question

I'm a 51 yr old male, need to get another routine colonoscopy done...questions I have is, is it normal procedeure now to have an endoscopy done at the same time? My gastro doctor wants to do one at the same time for no apparent reason other then I'm there....I did have some history of heartburn in the past, but that all went away when I had my gallbladder removed last year. Also, what other options other then Versed are there, I had a bad expierence with versed last year when they did an ERCP on me, and I do not want to take that ever again.
