Can anyone give me advise on a great Oncologist that may be able to save my dads life. His oncologist has basically written him off and thats not an answer to me. My dad has Stage 4 Lung Cancer because it has moved to his colon. I am also looking for another GREAT colon surgeon who actually cares about their patients and wants to save their lives. If anyone can help me PLEASE PLEASE let me know!!!!
Hello. When my colo-rectal cancer moved to stage IV, I went to M. D. Anderson in Houston, since they are the largest cancer center in the world & I've always heard they are number one for cancer treatments. Every Oncologist & Surgeon are board certified & specialists in their field. My Oncologist is Dr Cathy Eng & my colon Surgeon was Dr John Skibber. I have no doubt that they have saved my life & because of the skill of my surgeon, he was able to reverse the Ileostomy in 6 weeks after surgery. If you can't go to Houston, then I would just strongly suggest that you make sure that whatever surgeon you choose is board certified with many years experience & specializes in colon surgery. I'm so sorry that your Dads Oncologist has "written him off." That should never happen. I will check back on your progress. This is a very scary, stressful time, but hopefully, you'll be able to get your Dad a "team" soon that will give you both a sense of direction.

Hello again Actually, I tried calling my surgeons office this morning (Dr Skibber), and his office is closed until July 11th for vacation. < edited >
I would suggest that, if possible, you have your Dad's Dr refer you, but you can make an appointment on your own. ANY DOCTOR there would be one of the best in the country. To make things easier when going for your initial visit, they have a hotel INSIDE the facility.
Hope this helps.
