Colonoscopy today

I have a few questions, wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing...sorry if this may be kinda long.

I went to the doctor a month or so ago. My initial symptoms were horrible diarrhea-at least 10 to 15 times a day-cramps, a pain in the mid section of my back on the right side, nausea, vomiting, chills, and various other things I can't think of...over the month it has gotten worse. Recently my stool has been bright yellow. Initially they were thinking Crohns disease. Either that or a small chance of colon cancer. I had my colonoscopy today, and they found nothing. However, the dr still took some biopsies. My question is, why would they take biopsies if they found nothing? I should have asked but was too out of it when I left and didn't think about it. Anyone have any of these symptoms with a negative colonoscopy? I'm very confused as to what's going on now.

I forgot to add that my tests came back as having white blood cells in my stool and I'm anemic.

Re: Colonoscopy today

just to ease your mind my GI doc told me even if he found nothing he will take a few biopsy's just because. Hope everything works out great. I too am waiting on results right now.

Re: Colonoscopy today

I had one back in Feb due to bleeding. Ended up being due to hemmorids. My doctor also took samples even though I had no polops. I think they just do it to be save. Now I don't have to have one for 10 years.

Re: Colonoscopy today

Well I got my results today. Negative for cancer however I have lymphocytic colitis. That's the good news. I had an ultrasound today too to check out my galbladder. While my galbladder is fine, the dr called me right away to tell me they found 2 masses on my liver (they checked everything out while they were at it). So I have an MRI scheduled on the 7th for that. I am so nervous and scared .
