Rectal Cancer - Robotic Surgery

I am a 40 year old who was diagnosed last month of Stage 1 Rectal cancer. The tumor was about 1.3cm and very close to the sphincter. The tests showed it was a T1, N0, M0 and I underwent went a Transanal excision last week. Unfortunately, the surgical pathology report showed some invasion in the lymph glands and it is now considered a T2. (not sure about lymph nodes
yet). My surgeon is recommending two options
  • 1. Proctectomy with colo-anal anastomosis OR
  • 2. AP resection (with permanent colostomy

I would appreciate if you can help me with these questions -
  • 1. pros/cons of the above options
  • 2. Has anyone tried robotic surgery? (Da Vinci) and is that better and useful to go through? My surgeon said that the robotic procedures don't have enough data to validate they are better than the standard surgeries.

Any guidance/suggestions would be much appreciated.
