Heeellppp!!!

I'm terrified my husband has colon cancer. hes 33 yrs old, used to drink heavily and just up until recently used to smoke a pack every 3 days. Hes been bleeding bright red blood with almost evey BM for over a month now. he hid it from me for a long time. he doesnt have pain when he goes his stool is not ribbony and its not runny. its a normal looking stool just that to toilet bowl looks like its filled with cherry koolaid. he has a colonoscopy scheduled for monday but the suspense is killing me, i need support/advice. what could be causing him to bleed for so long?

thanx in advance,
Lisset
