why chemo???

If PET CT is clear and cancer free, why do Drs offer chemo as 'prevention'? Isn't chemo a poison? There was stage 3C and all is gone. Cannot give details as to what treatment because it has not been discussed yet; but it will be determined soon, just curious to know if someone else knows.
thanks!

Re: why chemo???

it was explained to me that i most likely had cancer cells still in my body - they just had not found a 'home' to grow into a tumor. The chemo is supposed to attack those random cells.
