Polyps 3 yrs ago now new symptoms - worried

Hi all,

I had my first colonoscopy 8 yrs ago and was fine, had another five years after that and had three polyps including at least one sessile (flat) polyp. I am supposed to have one at the three year mark which would be this coming year.

Recently though I have started to have the following symptoms:

persistent nausea
loss of appetite
frequent bm's that range from large and relatively soft to very thin and long
blood on toilet tissue
having a bm without any "warning"
feeling like I need to have a bm and nothing happens
mild cramping
weight loss

Should I be contacting the doc about moving up my colonoscopy? I am on the three year plan now because of the polyps and family history. I am a 46 y.o. female with a history of IBS and diverticulitis.

Any replies would be very appreciated, thanks!!

Absolutely. There is no disadvantage to moving it up and could be a big disadvantage to waiting. I have an acquaintance who started off going from a three year schedule to an annual schedule and she is doing well as her MDs are "on top of it". Pick up the phone today. You'll get peace of mind.
